My Kyoso Inferno MP777 SP2 with Sirio Kanai engine and Sirio Efra 2008 pipe along with KO Propo servos just arrived!! I have been waiting for it for approx. 6 days, so the shipping time was good. I carefully examined the content and the car and man was I pleased. The buggy itself is in excellent shape and so is everything that came with it (except perhaps the antenna tube :P). It seems all wear’n'tear parts such as arms and the like have been replaced, because it was minimal tear on them.
I don’t know the condition of the engine but according to the seller it has only gone 2 liters (approx. 1/2 a gallon) and it does look good, so only time will tell once it is started how well it will perform.
Only thing left now is to order a radio, starter box and some car candy - I haven’t decided what to buy yet but I’ll make a post once the order has been placed.
The buggy is on the way and in the meanwhile I have had some mail exchanges with the seller (who is btw French so we are using Google Translator to understand each other, lol!!). It appears that the store has assembled and broken in the engine (the Sirio Kana version) and it has only gone 2 liters (approx. half a gallon) which is unbelievable considering the price I got it for!!
Anyhow the setup on the buggy is the following:
Back diff: 1000. This can be set to 1000/2000/3000. Thinner oil gives faster turning but a little less drive. Center diff: 5000 Front diff: 5000 or it has a tcd/lsd which is limited slip diff or traction control diff as Kyosho calls it. This uses different pinions inside to create a diff that acts like its got thin oil sometimes and thicker oil other times. It requires special oil though which is not not expensive. Ordinary silicone diff oil shouldn’t be put in it since it will destroy it and the special pinions are about €99 on their own!!
It was a bit of chancing to purchase the car. I contacted the seller to answer my questions but I didn’t receive any reply since I mailed him today (which was the last day of the auction). Anyhow I followed the auction and at the final moment I decided to go for it. The auction was the following: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250261259718

As you can see the interior of the car is barely visible and he hasn’t stated how much the car has been driven and how many gallons have been through the engine. Everything being written in French just made it all worse, lol. Anyhow I got a Sirio Kanai engine and pipe and some strong Ko Propo servos with it as well as an extra chassi, arms, tires and a few other candy. So I figured even though the engine might be doing its last the price for the package was still cheap enough so it’s worth it. I got it for approx. 450USD including shipping and handling. So, was it a bargain or am I a bit crazy to have purchased something I’m not entirely sure of?
Anyhow I’ll keep you posted how it goes. Wish me the best of luck.
As I wrote in my previous post I’ve sold my Inferno US and looking to buy a used Kyosho Inferno 777 WC / SP2 edition. In this post I will list all parts I have in mind to get for the buggy:
Pipe:
No idea what pipe to get but I was thinking the price rage 50-80USD.
I want to keep down the expenses since I’m still a newbie and don’t want to go out to hard when I don’t have the skills for it anyway. What I will buy depends on what is included with the buggy when I buy it, what advice and recommendations I get and what budget I have.
So let’s see how it goes. If you have any feedback to give then please do write me a comment to this post!
Today I have some bad, or good (Depending on how you see), news.
I just sold my Inferno US.
Converted to USD I got approx. 500USD for the car, which was pretty much stock except a new Futaba S3305 servo and blue 777 springs.
For the money I’m instead planning to buy a used full scale 777Sp2/WC (probably a roller, but if engine/pipe is included then the better!) with a proper engine, pipe and radio since I want to start racing seriously. Please check the following post to see what I’m thinking of getting and if you have any recommendations then don’t hesitate to write a comment: http://www.rc-extreme.net/2008/06/25/list-on-what-to-get-for-a-new-buggy/
This car is built by autopartner.se. It is a Team Associated TC4 with Mamba Max 7700kv system and desirepower 2s+2s 3700mAh lipo batteries. The body is Nascar like from McAllister racing.
Kyosho France have released a few photos of the MP9 with the body on. In terms of what we can see, the front suspension is changed, the upper arms are definately new, along with the steering hubs, it looks pretty certain Kyosho are sticking with the traditional C-hub steering system as well. The new body is lower and tighter, but the chassis+side guards are still wide. The fuel tank looks to be new, (note all photos taken from right side of car). The rear shows thinner driveshafts, a new wing mount with 2 new supports, new wing, and what looks like new rear blocks that hold the hinge pins, the lower arms are also new, not like the SP2 arms. Lastly of course the towers are new as well! Engine looks to be moved forward a bit as well.
- Shocks have new coating/anodizing
- Antenna moved forward?
- Rear view mirrors on the body?! Haha! Cool!
Today I had my first race, a club race at Klippan-RC (Sweden). The race was targeted at newbies and hence I was allowed to race with my Inferno US stock buggy with GXR28 pull-start engine. My engine is very stable, among the more stable ones and it never died on field, and is very easy to start.
After 4 qualification laps I reached the finals where I ended at 6th place. It’s good for a start but I feel I could have driven faster, and also the car could have been set up better to improve the steering. As an overall I’m satisfied though! Below is a movie and the photos taken:
